To re-vitalise our Marutanga – our identity and cultural being, through:
Improvement and maintenance of marae infrastructure;
The sharing of our Ngāti Maru history and experience
Return of and access to Ngāti Maru taonga including historical documents and media footage; and
Establishment of a suite of programmes which are resourced to support the ongoing acquisition, awareness and protection of Te Reo o Taranaki me ona tikanga.
Training and development have been identified during the Aspirations Hui as a means to advancing the well-being of future generations.
A Te Reo revitalisation programme (Ruia Te Purapura) has been developed to implement in the home.
Wānanga will be developed and held for Ngāti Maru uri to reconnect with their Marutanga.
Our Gap Filling research has described the breadth of Ngāti Maru’s presence and activities on the landscape.
The Historical Account is written co-jointly by Ngāti Maru and the Crown. It tells the story of the relationship between both parties over the past 200 years.
A Digital History Library that all Ngāti Maru will have access to is being developed to record and preserve the unique stories of Ngāti Maru iwi.
