Tamzyn is the breakfast host at Te Korimako o Taranaki Radio Station, Project Manager of ‘Ruia te Purapura’, Ngāti Maru Iwi Co-ordinator and a teacher at Ngā Pekanga Kōhanga Reo. Her background is in Education, Broadcasting and Performing Arts and she has vast

governance experience as a Trustee in different fields including Marae, Rūnanga, TWPK and Health Board. Tamzyn has been devoted to her iwi her whole life, she has been on the Ngāti Maru board for almost 10 years, a marae trustee for seven years, the Taranaki Tū Mai Facilitator and the Iwi Coordinator for Ngāti Maru. She is passionate about Taranakitanga and more specifically Te Reo o Taranaki me ōna Tikanga along with whānau, kaupapa, iwi, marae and all things Ngāti Maru. Kapa Haka is a huge part of Tamzyn’s life and through her involvement in various kaupapa she strives to inspire and encourage whānau to come back home to the marae, participate, communicate and be present to build a Maru legacy that will live on for many years to come. “Never ask what your iwi can do for you but what you can do for your iwi”. That’s the essence of my motivation to help Ngāti Maru.
